Thailand Trip During The "Rainy Season"

Thailand Trip During The "Rainy Season"
Sukhothai Historical Park

When my mother told me that she had booked her wedding at the end of July I got surprised because it is normally not when people go to Thailand. But for me, all reasons to go to my favorite country is a good one!

I have not been to Thailand with my mother since I was in elementary school, so this would also be a good chance to reconnect with my mother's family and also with my new one (My mother's new husband's family).

I started the trip with three days in Bangkok.

Jay is feeling the pulse of Wat Pho and Thailand, he likes it! Maybe you think is a little bit weird that I also inserted a photo of a Shopping mall. But ICONSIAM is the most beautiful mall I have been to.

Now when we live longer it's quite usual that we find new paths to walk on and also new love in our lives. I am so happy for my mother that she has found a new love in her life. She and her new family have all my blessings!

My mother wanted a "small honeymoon" with family and friends so after the wedding some of the families went to Ko Chang to relax and enjoy a little extra.

Ko Chang is Thailand's 3rd biggest Island and it has everything you need. Of course, it is a little bit humid and cloudy during the rainy season. But I was surprised that we almost got no rain at all (could come a little bit at nighttime when we slept).

Most people that know me know how much I love Thailand. But I think it's hard to understand without living my life. It's where my mother comes from, it was where I went on holiday as a child, it was the country I first traveled alone to, and It was the country where I met my wife.

It's not only delicious food, good weather, beautiful beaches and smiling faces that attract me. It's something with how "Thai People" look at life. Most of them have a relaxed approach to life and they are also good at enjoying themself. Both small things and big things.

The last stop on the trip was my mother's hometown Sukhothai. Also known as the first capital of Siam (~13th and 15th centuries). I would say that this could be a good choice if you are in the northern part of Thailand, if you are in Bangkok I would suggest Ayutthaya because it's much closer.

Must be honest and say that we did not do that much tourist hoping here, But we rented bicycles and drove around Sukhothai Historical Park for a couple of hours. The rest of the time was with family and friends and of course a temple or two. It's not that big of a city but it still has its gems with restaurants, bars and of course a lot of history!

Something that fascinates me about Thailand is that you meet people over and over again who give without expecting anything back. It not only makes the receiver happy but also the giver. Already looking forward to my next trip to the "Land Of Smiles".

Thank you!
